AC or DC Motor , Which Motor is the Best for my requirement ?
The first question that arise for every single person who’s looking for a new treadmill is that which motor I should choose?
It is often said that AC motor is more powerful and has long life as compare to DC motor.
AC motors are generally considered to be more powerful than DC motors because they can generate higher torque by using a more powerful current.
However, DC motors are typically more efficient and make better use of their input energy.
Nowadays there is a myth that DC motors treadmills is not a good option to buy because they need more maintenance, less usage, and eventually will break down after 1 or 2 years.
To be honest, if someone wants to install treadmill at gym then the clear choice should be treadmill having AC motor as multiple people will do workout on the treadmill for almost whole day. On the other hand, if one is looking for home use then DC motorized treadmill can also fulfill the purpose. DC motors are basically designed for nuclear family having 4–5 members.
Furthermore, customers basically ask for the horsepower of particular motor, then they will proceed further, however this is not the correct way because many companies manipulate the things just to attract clients and enhance their sales.
Mostly firms mentioned fake description about treadmills, in the end customers gets low and cheap products. According to me, one should go for motor wattage as details about this is written on the motor package by the manufactures.
The new invention is introduced that is brushless DC motors which has great performance as compared with DC motors. Sketra is the emerging company which sales brushless dc motors. The best part is that we can use the treadmills for couple of long hours.
The advantages of a brushless motor over brushed motors are high power-to-weight ratio, high speed, nearly instantaneous control of speed and torque, high efficiency, and low maintenance. Brushless motors find applications in such places as computer peripherals (disk drives, printers), hand-held power tools, and vehicles ranging from model aircraft to automobiles.
In modern washing machines, brushless DC motors have allowed replacement of rubber belts and gearboxes by a direct-drive design.
At last, AC motors should be the first preference for commercial gym use and brushless DC motors for domestic use.
